Why can't I save a file in C:\Windows\System32 even though I am the administrator
I am the Adminstrator on the Machine running Windows 7 Home Premimum. I wanted to save a batch file in c:\windows\system32 folder, but when I do that I get a message that this operation requires administrator privileges and it also offers me to save the file at another location. I don't understand since I am the administrator on this machine, but I still get this message. How do I go about resloving this Issue. Any ideas greatly appreciated!! VeeruXbox

What you run into is a feature called UAC. UAC makes sure that even administrators run programs in a safe way, as a normal user. When you use a save as dialogue, it runs with the same priviliges as the program you launch it from. An that is by default as a normal user. You can run any program with administrative privileges by right clicking it and choosing "run as administrator" You can change this default behaviour of course. Micrsoft provides a lot of information on AUC. For example http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa511445.aspx and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-are-User-Account-Control-settings are interesting sources!MCSA/MCTS/MCP
